Chelsea have lost the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain star
Ezequiel Lavezzi, who has agreed to join Chinese Super League club Hebei
Fortune via a £23.5million deal, according to reports.
Lavezzi was heavily linked with a move away from the Parc
des Princes during the January transfer window, with the Argentina
international struggling for regular playing time since the arrival of Angel di
Maria from Manchester United last summer.
His frustrations alerted the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, and the Blues, but the European trio have lost out to Hebei Fortune.
The former Napoli attacker’s switch will see him join
ex-Arsenal man Gervinho in Hebei, and Lavezzi is set to earn a massive
£10.2million in just one season.
The 30-year-old’s teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also being
courted by another Chinese side in Shanghai Shenhua, but PSG fended off all interest in the Sweden international.
Lavezzi has made 24 appearances in all competitions this
season, scoring three goals.
