Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is wary of signing a new contract with the
club amid interest from Barcelona, report Marca.
The World Cup winner reportedly has a two-year contract
extension on the table, though is in no rush to commit at the present moment.
The Spanish newspaper claim the Blaugrana are assessing their squad ahead of making any
concrete moves.
Despite struggling in the early part of his career in the
Premier League, the German has been in scintillating form this term, recording
16 assists so far.
His £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013 is now looking like
a good bit of business, rather than an expensive flop as it initially looked.
His feelings of discontent in North London are understood to have stemmed
from the Gunners’ inability to compete on the European stage.
Under contract until June 2018, the 27-year old could be one
of the major stories of next summer’s transfer window.
