Aston Villa's season may be
falling flat but the club appear to have an unlikely supporter.
Manchester United star Wayne Rooney posted a picture to his
official Twitter account on Tuesday of his son Kai wearing the claret and blue
shirt of the Premier League's basement club.
The six-year-old – Rooney's oldest son – was posing with brother
Klay, two, as the Rooney family made pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday.
Despite being in his 13th
season at Manchester United, Rooney appears to have had trouble convincing Kai
to support English football's most successful club.
Instead of cheering on a side chasing Champions League football,
the youngster seems to have placed his allegiance with Remi Garde's top flight
strugglers.
There is sure to be split
loyalties in the Rooney household on April 16 when Manchester United welcome
Villa to Old Trafford.
Despite renewed hope following the 2-0 win against Norwich on
Saturday, Villa remain eight points adrift of Premier League safety and will be
grateful for all the support they can get.
Indeed, the club's official Twitter account picked up on the
picture and wrote on the social media site: 'Loving the shirt Kai #avfc.'
Villa supporters could never have believed they would see Rooney
in their kit, they will just be cursing their luck it isn't dad.
