Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s hierarchy that he wants ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez on board as one of his major summer signings, according to reports.
The Mexico international only left Old Trafford over the summer after a frustrating few years at the club, which culminated in manager Louis van Gaal deeming him surplus to requirements.
He has since shone in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, smashing a staggering 22 goals in 26 games, reviving his reputation to the point that he’s now being considered by a host of top clubs.
And reports claim that Klopp is eager to put aside the Liverpool/Manchester United rivalry with a move for the former Red Devil, who he sees as the ideal man to provide the goals his side have missed this term.
The Reds are currently the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League’s top nine with a tally of just 32, with the injury absences of Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings, as well as Christian Benteke’s struggles, having been issues.
‘Chicharito’ has long been heralded as one of the best goalscoring strikers around, but there are doubts surrounding his physicality and link-up play.
