AC Milan star M’Baye Niang has revealed that he had no intention of joining current Premier League leaders Leicester City, according to reports from Sky Sports.
Niang was heavily linked with a move to the King Power Stadium in the January transfer window, with a £12million offer submitted to the Rossoneri.
The 21-year-old recently penned a new two-year deal with the Serie A giants before speculation of Leicester’s interest, and now the Frenchman has confirmed that he never considered leaving Milan last month.
“I never thought of leaving Milan, although some people thought I was already at Leicester,” he told Milan News.
“I always had just Milan in my mind, as I also told [president] Adriano Galliani and the coach [Sinisa Mihajlovic]. I wanted to end the season with the Rossoneri.”
Last season, Niang spent half a term on loan with Montpellier and then the other half with Genoa, and his experience has helped him cement a regular place with AC Milan under manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.
And the attacker paid his boss’ faith by putting in some marvellous performances, with Niang scoring the equalizer in Milan’s 1-1 draw against Udinese the past weekend.
Niang has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring eight goals and supplying four assists.
