Inter
Milan may sell star striker Mauro Icardi this summer for a fee of £34.9m if
they fail to qualify for the Champions League amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool,
according to reports fromTuttosport.
The Argentine has been aligned with both the Red Devils and their
Merseyside rivals of late and is considered to be one of Serie A’s top talents.
However, Inter are eager to keep their captain, but are aware that
failure to qualify for the Champions League next season may make it difficult
to reject big bids and persuade the player himself to stay put.
Reports claim that, as a result, a fee of £34.9m may be accepted,
with Man United known to be interested.
Although Tuttosport do not directly mention Liverpool, the Reds
are understood to have made a late move
for Icardi during
the last window when it became clear that a deal for Alex Teixeira wouldn’t be
doable.
The South American star’s playing style has been likened to that
of Luis Suarez in the past.
Icardi has notched 10 goals in 22 games this term.
